Come and take some fun dance/movement-based classes on Saturday February 3 at Rock U 2 with Summer Baldwin and Michelle Bryant for our first monthly Saturday Lab!  These workshops are for kids to study new genres of dance other than their weekly classes; stress relief techniques for auditions and performances; and learn how to take care of and condition the most important instruments for their art: their own bodies, minds and spirits!  

FEB 3 Labs:

  • Yoga & Conditioning for Dance with Summer Baldwin

  • Movement & Stress Relief for Actors, Singers, Musicians & Dancers with Summer Baldwin
    11:15-12:15pm (Ages 8+) // $15.00
  • Breakdancing Basics & History with Michelle Bryant

About the author

Summer Baldwin is a formerly NYC-based, currently Gulf Coast-based dancer, aerialist and actress. She received her BFA in Theater/Dance from Valdosta State University. While in NYC, Baldwin trained and performed as a low-flying trapeze artist with Fly-By-Night Dance Theater, performed in one-act plays with Impetuous Theater Group, collaborated with the Collective Opera Company and played the lead actress in two episodes of the web-series Joseph Kaplan. Film work on the Gulf Coast includes playing the female lead, Betty, in the award-winning short film, The Dead Man's Number, directed by Jackson Hill. The Dead Man's Number won the Audience Choice Short Film Award at the 2013 Fairhope Film Festival and a Gold Remi Award at the 2014 Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival. For her role as Betty, Summer was nominated for Best Actress in the 2015 Philadelphia Horror Film Festival. Other film work includes Help! My Gumshoe's an Idiot, A February Tale, The House of Mystery and The Host. Upcoming films include shooting The Cornbread Cosa Nostra, directed by Travis Mills, in the fall of 2017 on the MS Gulf Coast. In 2013 she was voted one of the Top Three Performing Artists of the Year for the New Orleans RAW Artist Showcase. Summer's original, experimental modern dance and trapeze pieces include Whatever You Think is Best; petite bash; Ever So; If It Suddenly Rains; and her most recent mixed media piece, Aloneliness. Teaching experience includes dance, yoga and acting for all ages at numerous dance studios, performing arts summer camps, River Rock Yoga, ROCK U 2 and The Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Center. She currently teaches yoga at River Rock Yoga and dance/theater for kids and adults at ROCK U 2 in Ocean Springs, MS.
